Imagine you are running to the supermarket to buy a salad. It is wrapped in plastic so that you can easily take it with you. But did you know that currently over 91% of all plastic is thrown away and burnt? Only a small proportion is melted down to make new plastic. But you can't do that forever. Plastic is made from petroleum, a fossil resource. Petroleum is made up of all kinds of short hydrocarbon chains, from which we can make plastics, which are made up of longer hydrocarbon chains. At BlueAlp, we break the existing chains down to short ones. We can do this over and over again. This is what we call 'circular plastics'. Instead of burning the waste, we turn it into new plastic.
