We all carry a chemical reactor inside us that runs on sunlight. Although we industrially produce supplements , the most sustainable way to obtain vitamin D is to expose our body to sunlight.

Did you know that we can use the same principle to make our chemical industry more sustainable. Light, either directly from the sun or provided by renewable electricity powered lamps is excellent for this.
Recently, marvelous advances have been made to fuel reactions with light. However, industrial implementation lags behind. As applied scientists we perform research to bridge this innovation valley of death.

Our research focuses on combining knowledge and partners from both the High-Tech Equipment sector and the Chemical industry.
Doing this we provide flow chemistry solutions for processes running on light that are scalable. So that we will identify the best combination of technologies to sustainably produce every day products, among others medicines and fuels.

In the future our trained young professionals will be able to make the chemical industry more sustainable using light. The major challenge is that we need to find an efficient way to scale up.

We all have a chemical reactor in our bodies that is powered by sunlight. Did you know that we can use this same principle to make the chemical industry more sustainable? Unfortunately, implementation is lagging behind, which is why Tim den Hartog is trying to bring together knowledge from the High-Tech equipment sector and the Chemical industry.
