The colors you see may not be from the items themselves, but the coatings. Coatings do not only bring some colors to your home, but also provide a layer of protection on the object. One of the main components of coatings is polyester. For chemists, there are several ways to make esters. But for industry, complicated reactions are not ideal. The current industrial method usually requires high energy and there are some side reactions that could defect the property of coatings. Therefore, I’m developing efficient catalytic reactions to reach the final products. In addition, the developed catalyst should be ecofriendly. This way industries can make coatings more sustainable and you can have decent products to color your home.
